Born one of 8 children, to registered blind parents in Glasgow, oral storytelling was a crucial part of my childhood. I come from a long line of storytellers and from the age of 5, my task was telling stories to my young brother and I have been writing and telling stories ever since.
During a six-month sabbatical in 1996, when my husband and I adopted the two youngest of our five children, I offered my services as a storyteller in the local primary schools so that I could choose the one I thought best for the boys. This went down very well with the schools and they kept asking me back and since I was really enjoying this new found work life balance that suited my family so well, compared to my successful though highly pressured career, I decided to give up that career entirely and became a career storyeller instead. I was fortunate enough to have received excellent testimonials from the schools I was working in which enabled me to grow my business. I recognised the opportunity to get involved and engage in Storytelling In Business, then became a Consultant In Education with NIACE where I tutored the Tutors in schools and universities across the UK and beyond. Since then, my work has taken me all over the world: from Russia to the USA and Jakarta to Morrocco and to San Antonio.
