Why Storytelling?

The Power

The Persuasion

The Persuasion

Considering it is our oldest craft, the lasting importance of traditional, oral storytelling is remarkable. Even in this age of technology, and artificial intelligence and rampant individualism, the ability of the spoken word to unite and empower us make it as important now as ever before. The World Bank, NASA, The Disney Corporation and Samsung, amongst others, are accutely aware of the power of a good back story when trying to influence their customers . so, to that end, they employ oral storytelling practises, recognising the need for effective communicators on the path of progress, to get ahead and stay ahead of their rivals.

The Persuasion

Communication has been the singular driving force behind humanity's success. Our species' greatest triumphs arose from people working together and conveying complex ideas to one another. Likewise, our worst moments come when people don't or can't communicate effectively. Storytelling is unique, as a form of communication, in its reach and endurance. It is therefore a key tool in the arsenal of anyone aiming to be persuasive and successful in both their professional as well as personal and family life.

It unites us as humans in a way that nothing else can, or has ever done, there is no substitute for a well told story.

The Performer

We all have the ability to communicate, but not all can do so effectively. As children we were great communicators. We always got our own way, even now, try telling a 2yr old NO! However, we become less persuasive as the experiences of adult life erode at our inner performer. This is a problem as to do well in any occupation today, means having the ability to forge strong and lasting interpersonal relationships. By returning to the ancient craft, which was the one way our ancestors bonded and made sense of our scary world together, we can reinvigorate our inner performer and unlock our potential as a competent and confident communicator.
